Liability is always a big concern for farmers and ranchers, and it becomes even more critical when you begin to invite the public onto your property.
It’s crucial that you evaluate the potential risks involved in operating your agritourism business. Proper safety precautions, developing a sound risk management plan and obtaining liability insurance are the good ways to manage risk.
Please note that most farm insurance policies do NOT cover agritourism activities. Since agritourism is fairly new, many mainstream insurance providers may not have a standard policy for agriculture-related activities. Your search for insurance may take you out of state and may take some time; however, the Oklahoma Agritourism Program highly recommends that producers protect themselves and their visitors through liability insurance.
